Good Sunday Morning

Well last days of my vacation are being spent at home. Made a dash for the marina in Penetang on Friday. That was an interesting trip. Started out motoring in the small craft channel south of Parry sound. At O'Donald point decided to head out on the bay. First part of the trip was good 3' rollers with the odd 4 footer. An hour in to it and the wind picked up to 20 knts and the waves built to 6-7 ft. Made for an interesting crossing. Headed to the lea of Hope and Beckwidth and then a great downwind run to Penetang bay at 6-7 knts.
Caught the 10 am bridge and arrived at the marina at 5pm.
Caught a little air on that crossing as well, always a little exciting.

Next weekend Robin wants got head out...winds to be SE so may head up to Indian Harbor.

Magnetewan River trip

Magnetawan river trip 2

The trip back down

Back up just for fun

Good Tuesday morning
Well back in the big port of Parry Sound. Ended up motoring all the way back here form Britt. Winds from the SSE right on the nose. Did try a little tacking out on the bay but I think I would have still been out there today  :)
Just checking the weather and there are 3M waves out on the bay with gust to 37 knt. Kinda glad I am tied to this dock :)

Pizza for dinner last night delivered right to the dock, its the small things that make life worth while lol.
Today will be full of chores and provisioning again. Open the last liter of mike for a nice warm tea this morning and it was bad. Borrowed a couple of creamers/milkers from the staff till I get more. Again its the small things lol.

Thought I may have had a problem with the alternator because the house batteries were low upon arrival yesterday but it seems to be ok. The max current out may be a little low, the output volt is ok 14.2V out at 1500 RPM, I will check that out when I get back to my marina.

Here is something for Tim on Windsum 2 ...leaving Britt tuned in the Cruisers net and checked in, got a complement on signal quality form Don, Roy was out on a cruise with CYC...FYI, Tim been hearing lots on American weather and coastguard stations on the handheld as well. The VHF station onboard even triggered on a weather alert test from Michigan

Anyway should get back to the jobs at hand, oh I will post a few videos and pics a little later today as soon as I get them organized.

Hello from Britt Ontario. Funny I am using Eastlinks internet lol, so this is how the customer feels.
Actually the speed is rather good.
Anyway had a good sail here from Sawanaga to the Magnetawan Ledges, nice SSW breeze at 7-9 knts boat speed was around the 4 kn mark all afternoon. So did a little maintenance and had a nice lunch on the way up.

looking at the weather forecast is just depressing and I am trying to organize my remaining vacation and make sure I get back to work next Monday and not get stuck out here.

Looks like a couple of days in parry sound then head south on thur afternoon or Friday or both.
The weekend looks good so may stop over at a local anchourage fri and sat

Anyway it has been a quiet vacation and I guess that's what we all look for :)

Good Saturday morning
Day 7 of my vacation from hell (no wind). Sitting in a bay in Shawanaga Inlet trying to determine what to do next.
Weather is suggesting a very wet week with high winds and lots of rain.(tue, wed and thur) so what to do???

So from no wind to winds with gust to better than 30 kn. not fun and I will need to be in a well sheltered bay or at a marina.maybe head to Britt Monday or early Tuesday.

Post my decision later

And for the teckies out there. A report on my new battery bank. I am very pleased with its performance. Four days out and only a little motoring and the Volts never went below 12.5. Solar and a sip of diesel kept them well charged.
Very happy with their performance and FYI they were abused,  because of the late nights and lots of movies lol

Wednesday, 2 July 2014

Well what an interesting long weekend. First off did a considerable amount of sailing but really didn't go anywhere lol.
Started out heading to Little Sandy bay on Christian, seen Windsom 2 and Casa Mia there, They left Sunday and I headed north to Parry Sound. Got about a hour out and the wind died, so decided to motor over to The Tomb. The wind picked up again so I sailed past the Tomb to Methodist bay. Surprise showed up and we partied on Dragonfly for the evening. Monday morning moved back to little Sandy bay with Surprise. Did a dingy trip to the Maple Dawn with the group...I was the guide,  a couple went in Snorkeling the wreck, but it was way too cold for me. lol
The amount of tree pollen out on the bay is amazing. When we first arrived at the wreck site is was really thick. So we had to wait for about 45 min while the wind moved it north of the site.

Also took a trip by Big Sandy bay on the way back to the boats.

Tue AM rain and a long lie as my Ex uesd to say. The sun came out and the wind came up and I enjoyed a down wind run to the bottom of the tomb before the wind quit again. Motored back to the marina and un-packed and headed home.

Heading out again this weekend, again over to Hope or Christian, or maybe  Indian Harbour.
